University of Missouri takes 1st Place in the 2011 Duncan Neuhauser Award for Curricular Innovation
"Interprofessional Safety Simulation," by the University of Missouri, was deemed the overall winner in the annual Duncan Neuhauser Award for Curricular Innovation. The awards were presented at the 17th International Scientific Symposium on Improving Quality and Value in Health Care on December 5, 2011, in Orlando, Florida.

The second place prize was awarded to the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and the Dartmouth College Medical for its project entitled, "The Dartmouth-Hitchcock Leadership Preventive Medicine Residency Program's 'Developmental Journey.' "
Les Hall presents the second place award for curricular innovation to Drs. Stephen Liu and Jonathan Huntington of Dartmouth.
The Duncan Neuhauser Award for Curricular Innovation was established in 2009 to honor the contributions of Duncan Neuhauser, Ph.D., who has devoted a lifetime to the teaching of improvement science. The award recognizes new curricular material that has the potential for significant impact in the teaching of improvement, is innovative in its educational approach, and has the ability to be adopted by other schools, institutions, or professions. AHI members are encouraged to begin planning now to submit curricular innovations for consideration of the 4th annual Duncan Neuhauser Award for Curricular Innovation, which will be presented in December, 2012 at the AHI Scientific Symposium.
Duncan Neuhauser conducted a guided tour of the Posters presented at the 2011 International Symposium on Improving Quality and Value in Health Care.
The Academy for Healthcare Improvement's Paul Batalden Leadership Award was presented by outgoing AHI President Mark Splaine to Brent C. James, MD, Chief Quality Officer and Executive Director of the Institute for Healthcare Delivery Research, Intermountain Healthcare of Salt Lake City, Utah.
