The aims of the Academy for Healthcare Improvement Research Committee are to increase the amount and excellence of quality improvement research, primarily through:

• Contributing to the development of scientific methods suited to questions and objectives relating to quality improvement
• Providing non-financial practical support to researchers and research groups
• Facilitating network communications among quality improvement researchers
• Providing mechanisms for dissemination of information regarding research methods and findings relevant to quality improvement research
• Fostering the utilization of quality improvement findings
• Preparing students and new investigators for the role of quality improvement researcher
• Promoting the development of funding and other resources for quality improvement research
• Promoting quality improvement as a scientific discipline
